Property Damage Liability. Covers the property of others damaged by you or someone driving your car.

Bodily Injury Liability. Covers injuries to others in crashes that are your fault.

Collision. Covers damage to your car that is not covered by an at fault driver's insurance policy.

Comprehensive. Covers damages or loss attributable to things other than crashes, e.g. theft, fire, storm damage.

Uninsured Motorist's Fund. Pays for damages to you and/or your car resulting from a crash caused by someone who has no insurance. Your insurance pays and then sues the at fault driver to recover their loss.

Eugene Said:

Which type of car insurance coverage?

We Answered:

If you are insured and he has your permission, collision would over your car.
Same for your friend.
As per the cars, it depends.
Are you crashing into a great big rock and you have collision only? Tough. Nobody pays.
Is someone crashing into you and it's their fault? IF they are insured, they fix your car, if they are not... then it's tough once more.
But you can sue them, take their belongings etc.

If you want cover so that your car gets fixed no-matter-what you then need a comprehensive cover, the most expensive type.
That's what people who finance must get, there's no way out of it.

will my insurance cover my car because of snow?

We Answered:

You can put in a claim in to your insurance Co. for paint damage; You may not know what caused the paint damage, so don't commit yourself to some cause of damage you cannot prove. Could the scratches come from ice? Or dust and dirt and leaves or blowing sand? This kind of damage falls under comprehensive coverage to which you may have to pay a deductable. The insurance co. should send out an adjuster to verify the facts in your claim.

Clayton Said:

Does typical car insurance cover the rear window?

We Answered:

Yes, full coverage, less deductible, should cover the back glass. Pedro is right concerning the windshield, it is usually the least expensive to replace. Unfortunately, the back glass (rear window) is the most expensive. Do shop around, different places will offer different prices. Quote your lowest bid and see if they will match or beat it. Auto glass retailers have a list price they will show you, but they typically buy the glass for 75 to 85 percent off list. Good luck with it.

Maurice Said:

Does car insurance cover this type of accident?

We Answered:

It is a collision and if you have collision coverage it may be covered subject to your deductible. Call your agent. I hate it when those poles jump out in front of you and damage a vehicle too. If you believe that it would cost "thousands" to repair, why in the world would you be worried about a rate increase? Any rate increase, if there ever is one, would be no where near 'thousands".
