Katrina Said:

why was my travel insurance's claim rejected? how do i make a contest?

We Answered:

According to what you had posted here, the insurance company will not pay you for cancelling of the trip which is not a result of the Specified Cause. You can call your insurance agent/broker but they will not be able to do anything as this is quite a standard clause. Don't expect a lot from a low cost insurance like travel insurance. If you pay like $40 for a 5 day trip which covers you $500k of medical bills and basic things like lost of personal items due to theft, flight delay, baggage delay and lost, I think it is good enough. There is no way they can insure against social unrest which is more unpredictable than volcanic eruptions.

Travel Insurance Policy - Personal Accident Cover?

We Answered:

If I were you, I would make a list of questions and contact the agent to explain in detail exactly what you will be paying and what will and will not be covered for. Insurance Companies have a way of listing Terms and Conditions that cover them rather than you.

Filing for SSDI...Where to start?

We Answered:

Go to your nearest Social Security Administration office and ask for the forms. It's too early to get an attorney. If you have loads of medical documentation, odds are good you won't need to see another doctor.

To find your nearest SSA office, put your zip code in this form: https://secure.ssa.gov/apps6z/FOLO/fo001…

If there is no office near you, you can call 1-800-772-1213 (TTY 1-800-325-0778) and ask them to mail the forms to you.

You can also apply online at: http://www.socialsecurity.gov/applyfordi… but I do NOT recommend this. Most applications are denied the first time through. If you fill the forms out by hand and make a photo copy of them before sending them in, then you can just copy most of your answers from the first time around and save hours and hours of work. You don't have this option if you do it online.

The forms are grueling (long, invasive, and demeaning). They will include releases for all of the doctors who have treated you. The SSA will request copies of your medical records from these doctors at their (the SSA's) expense. They will not accept copies directly from you. If they do not find sufficient information in your existing records, they may ask you to submit to an examination by a doctor of their choosing and at their cost.

It is possible getting SSDI would qualify you for additional benefits, including Medicare which in some cases gives better coverage than your insurance carrier especially with prescription drugs. It's worth checking into.

can you help me edit my essay?

We Answered:

I put all the corrections in parentheses.

For me, optimism is what helps a person fight life’s storm. Being optimistic means having hope in life, and hope is the most important thing a person can have. Even if (should be changed to "when") you have nothing else(,) it is hope that sustains you. Optimism is all around you, (should be a colon here instead of a comma) through soldiers, when you take trips to places, through death, and throughout history. Pessimistic people concentrate on all the difficulties in their opportunities (you might want to reword this to "With every opportunity they get, pessismistic people concentrate on all the difficulties in their lives), while optimistic people focus on the opportunities in their difficulties.
First (this is awkward - you should take it out; you don't really need it), you would (changed to "will") be amazed by how many examples of optimism you run across throughout the course of a day. Most people just don’t take the time to look around and acknowledge them (this sentence is unnecessary). For example(,) a single rose could be taken in many different perspectives. Some may look at it and see the luscious petals and colors, while others look at it and see the sharp, prickly thorns. Also, after a big thunderstorm one may see little rays of sun shine bursting through the clouds(,) telling you everything is going to be alright.
Secondly (change to "furthermore" or something like that; avoid using numerical transitions; it doesn't fit with this), in my opinion, Soldiers are a great example of thinking positively (change thinking positively to "optimists"). On television you sometimes see soldiers smiling, even through all they have been through (change to "even through all their hardships". It's too repetitive to say through twice). They are optimistic by always thinking about how they are fighting for the country that we live in (you might want to reword this sentence like "They are always optimistic in which they view their condition as a a positive sacrifice for the country we live in")(,) never thinking about how they could be shot or killed any moment. That, to me(,) is (change to "characterizes") a true optimist.
Lastly (once again, change it to something like "additionally"; your essay is organized in a sequence so avoid words like "lastly, firstly, secondly..."), the person who I feel (best) represents the definition of optimism, is my dad’s friend Dave lively (should this be capitalized?). He first developed cancer 23 years ago, and he was told he only had only a couple years left to live. At that time, he could not get a job, had just gotten a divorce(,) and didn’t have any health insurance. Basically, life wasn’t good for him. However, he had ended up living 23 more years after he had been diagnosed with cancer. He thought more about his friends and discovering the world than about his disease. He traveled to tell his story all throughout the United States. It was his optimism that kept him alive for those years.
(remove "after writing this and I conclude that"; readers will know that this is the conclusion based on what you write) Optimism can help you survive the struggle through difficult situations. Optimism makes you stronger. Optimism can help you live longer, and is displayed in various different ways.

Great essay, by the way! Hope I helped! :)

What do I do in this situation?

We Answered:

Hi, I know how you feel. My parents fight like this all the time. We just got a new house so all they do is argue. I thought about them having a divorce years ago but it never came.

Look to the bright side of life. Not the dark. :)
