Travel Insurance Cancer Cover
Richard Said:
Setting up a charitable fund for an individual? (in the USA)....?We Answered:
Try contacting your bank, or any bank especially a local bank. The bank's customer service reps or bank manager should be able to advise you on how to set up the type of account you are referring to. Another way to set up these accounts is to contact an attorney, possibly through your local Legal Aid Society, to set up a charitable trust fund. You are very kind to look into doing this for your friend! Good luck!Jim Said:

Travel Insurance?We Answered:
Hi,Since your friend is currently in remission from lung cancer, the best place I'd suggest in terms of short term cover, would be to try for a site called Cancer Travel Insurance.
For peace of mind Cancer Travel Insurance is a trading style of MediQuote Ltd. MediQuote Ltd is authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority.
I'd suggest that you will give them a call in the first instance and explain your circumstances, they will able help you for sure.
Hope this helps with your query.

My grandma has Cancer she is 77 years young she has had polyps in the past and removed or SO SHE THOUGHT WOW?We Answered:
Cancer is a progressive disease. It is entirely possible that in August the polyps that were removed were not cancerous . . or the ones tested were not cancerous. This is what makes cancer so deceptive . .you can have two polyps and one will be benign but the other may be malignant or progress to a malignancy. The fact that the polyps grew back or had increased in size are a symptom for cancer . . . don't you understand . . they were not there even a few weeks before . . that is how fast cancer in some cases can progress. My son was 17 when diagnosed with multiple abdominal tumors . . his disease was so aggressive that the tumor doubled in size in 30 days . . he had hundreds of tumors, some the size of volley balls . . and his pediatrician never in noticed them until the disease was advanced. As for the rest of your commentary . . I totally agree that patients need to know their bodies and advocate for themselves. Patients hire doctors for their knowledge and expertise, the patient should hear all options and than make decisions.
I would suggest that your grandmother become educated with the 'cancer world' and where to go for treatments . . she should travel as soon as possible to the nearest comprehensive cancer center which treats many cancer patients a year. She needs expertise and an oncologist who will work with her to treat her in the way best for her. As for the insurance . . there are oncological social workers who should be able to give your grandmother advice and steer her toward resources. Even if the insurance does not cover a medication a cancer patient can generally get it through the company or in other ways . . her doctor should have explained that to her. And even if the insurance denies the medication a patient can still appeal the decision . . doctors will often write a statement to the insurance company.
The lesson learned here is that your grandmother needs to be her own advocate . . she needs to be assertive, but also acknowledge that oncologists have the expertise that she will need to survive this disease.
Your grandmother should join a few support groups to find out what questions to ask and where to go for the best treatment for colon cancer (also suggest she carefully avoid the 'terminators' - those who will try to write her life off):

DOES ANYONE KNOW OF ANY HELP I CAN GET TO HELP PAY FOR MY TREATMENT FOR THYROID CANCER?We Answered:
I also think you should have your mom contact the American Cancer Society. http://www.cancer.org/docroot/home/index… They do provide help with lodging, rides, etc. I also think it would be highly advisable to contract ThyCa (Thyroid Cancer Survivors' Association) http://www.thyca.org/ , they would be able to give you information about various services. I wish you and your mom the best! Good luck with everything!Jose Said:
Can anyone recommend a particular travel insurance for these circumstances? We Answered:
That's a difficult and unfortunate one, sorry to hear your in this position. I've heard that some travel insurers wont pay out in these circumstances as your aware of this at the time of taking the policy out. I'd try a site like moneysupermarket as they will give you lots of options and you can look at the terms and conditions on there too to make sure your covered first :) hope this helps and my sympathy is with you at this time.Lewis Said:
I am a US citizen w/out health insurance. If I move to Canada can I get treatment for cancer? We Answered:
You are not going to be eligible for treatment in Canada as you are not resident in any of the provinces and not eligible for health insurance there. Each province runs its own insurance scheme. You would not expect, in your own country to get benefits from, for example, a car insurance company that you did not have a policy with.
The problem with walking in as a tourist is that you are trying to take the place of a person who is part of the provincial scheme and entitled to be treated. You will be stabilised and helped to arrange your trip home.
My advice to you if you are american with no insurance is that you claim ssi disability so that you can use medicare in the US.
