Switch Cover Car Insurance

Penny Said:

Can I switch car insurance company if I have an unresolved claim?

We Answered:

Yes, you can switch at any time. The insurance covers you for any accident that you had at the time of the accident, even if you no longer have it when the claim is resolved.

Note that this applies only to auto, homeowner's, and similar "property" and liability insurance. It does not apply to medical insurance. Medical insurance does not cover treatment after the policy ends, even if the treatment is for an accident that happened while you still had the insurance.

Bobby Said:

Will our car insurance cover this situation.?

We Answered:

only if you are listed on each others policies.
other than that, no.

you can borrow each others vehicles, but not drive them regularly without being listed as a driver on the policy.
thats the way that goes.
and yes your insurance will follow you to someone elses vehicle and act as primary, but if you have an at fault accident with his truck you have been driving regularly and act as if you borrowed it, and they check with your neighbors and employer and find you have been driving his car regularly, then thats fraud and rejection for the atfault claim, you will get sued by the damaged party and jailed and fined for the fraud.

Diana Said:

I need to switch car insurance but....?

We Answered:

if the claim is already in, you can cancel NOW and it will still be paid. after you write the other policy, you can go in (in a week or so) and cancel the old one. However, be advised, it is perfectly legal for a company to charge a cancellation fee for request cancellation during the policy term, and most do! If you have NOT had the current policy for 12 months, don't bother because they won't give you partial credit!

Jackie Said:

How insurance coverage work for new a car ?

We Answered:

If you drive the car without insurance, and something happens, it's not covered.

Call your agent and tell him you are buying a new car. If you can get the VIN in advance of the sale, it would be helpful. Ask him to get you covered before you drive it. He should be able to help.
