Student Insurance Cover

Jon Said:

I am covered by Aetna student health insurance until August (just graduated). Will this cover bunion surgery?

We Answered:

No one can answer this - not even an employee of Aetna without your policy and/or group number because there are numerous different coverages in different policy groups. You have to contact your insurance carrier to discuss what exactly your policy states.

Sean Said:

I'm turning 19 and I'm only gonna be a part time College student, will my parents insurance still cover me?

We Answered:

With most group plans, full-time student status is required once you have reached your 19th birthday. Your mother will have to check with her human resources department if she does not have that information. I know that I have to provide information to show that our son is still a full-time student every semester.

Kathy Said:

Would my father's insurance company cover me as a student if i only have three classes ?

We Answered:

In the United States, part of the health care bill that was just passed states you no longer have to be a student to stay on your parents insurance up till age 26. Doesn't matter if you attend college at all.

Ruby Said:

Would car insurance cover be higher for a student or a student nurse?

We Answered:

I assume you mean full time occupation and not education ? Every insurance company is different in assessing students and student nurses. Some are happier with students as they tend to drink a lot in the evenings so don't drive (stereotyping I know but the statistics prove it). Some feel student nurses are a better risk as they are perceived to be more sensible people. Other companies either won't insure any of them, or charge the same price for both of them.

Jane Said:

I am a college student, does my health insurance cover hospitilazation because of intoxication?

We Answered:

You say that like CHP has only ONE plan. They have LOTS of plans.

Odds are, you're going to pay for SOMETHING, and if you have an exclusion for alcohol/drug issues, you'll be paying for EVERYTHING.

Call the number on the back of your card, to see HOW MUCH is your share of the cost.

Discuss It!
