Sport Insurance Cover

Ben Said:

what does insurance cover on quads?

We Answered:

You can get liability or full coverage, just like with a vehicle. Here in the state of Ohio you only have to have a 4wheeler policy if you're going to be using it on public trails. If you only use it on your property, it would be covered under your contents coverage on your homeowners policy.

Joshua Said:

Does travel insurance cover sporting equipment?

We Answered:

That would be correct. It's essentially saying that they'll cover it unless the damage occurred while you were actually using the equipment. (For example, if your golf clubs are broken on the flight, they'll be covered, but if you break it during your round, it won't be.)

Francis Said:

If I change my original wheel into Sport rims and get into an accident, will insurance still cover?

We Answered:

They won't cover the value for the NEW wheel, unless you call them and add "customizing equipment" coverage to your policy. Then you have to tell them the value of the customizing equipment - aka, the cost of the wheels - and the cost of insurance goes up in accordance to the extra value.

Also, if I were you, I'd take pictures of the wheels, and keep the receipt. You need to do that for all customizing equipment you get for the car.

Does Aetna insurance cover annual physicals? You know the kind you need for sports?

We Answered:

Most, but not all, Aetna policies cover physicals. Some that do will have a limit to what is covered, such as they'll cover the basic visit but not any lab work or will have a $ amount to what is covered. The only way to know if your policy does would be to contact your agent or HR department.

A physical can run anywhere from $100 to $500 depending on what is done, where it's done, and where you are located. Some of the Aetna plans that don't cover physicals will have a negotiated rate with the doctor which will lower your cost.

Louis Said:

Is it worth coveriong your sport bike in your insurance or is it best to just cover liability?

We Answered:

If it is an older bike, 5 or more years, I would only cover liability. If it is a new bike, like the one I have now, I put full coverage on it because those plastic coverings are expensive.

You might want to shop around for insurance because full coverage only adds about $200 a year for my 1100 cc bike (note: my insurance company, State Farm, goes by the size of the motor only, not the type of bike).
