Skiing Insurance Cover

Naomi Said:

I need insurance for my jet ski rentals and scooter rentals ?

We Answered:

Find an independent agent who works with specialty risk insurance. If you want to sound like you know what you are talking about ask for the agent in the office who handles "surplus lines". This may take several phone calls because not every agency is going to want to or be qualified to deal with this type of risk. And as noted above it is not going to be cheap.

To find an independent agent in your area go to this site: http://www.iiaba.net/agentlocator/findag…

Is there insurance for ski club members on a ski trip who are over 65?

We Answered:

OK, you're looking for a travel accident policy, but you're not going to find it "cheap" with $1,000,000 of coverage per person. With that kind of limit, maybe you're really looking for general liability coverage? What exactly do you want the insurance to DO?

You need to talk to a local agent. If your club already has liability coverage, talk to that agent. I've written travel accident group policies - it's rated based on how far you go, how many days you go, how many people go, during a full year. With a $10,000 per person limit, you can get about 300 travel days total, for about $1500. That would cover 100 people for a three day trip, once a year. It pays medical bills only, and only during the traveling - NOT during the "sporting event" for participants who are skiing.

Maybe part of your problem, is you're trying to do something moderately hazardous, for a group of people who most likely aren't healthy enough to be doing it, and you want to shove ALL the risk onto the insurance company. The problem is, the odds will ALWAYS favor the house. Can you buy the type of coverage you are looking for? Yes, if money is no object. But you might not be able to afford really high limits, on a primary basis, for each person.

Medicare, though, will cover hospitalization, if they break a leg, whereever they are in the USA.

Can anyone recommend COMPREHENSIVE ski insurance?

We Answered:

The problem with off-piste ski-ing is that if you venture off marked runs on your own (without a guide and/or another adult insured for off-piste areas which are designated safe by the resort management), or choose to ski down areas which are officially closed, then you cannot be covered for getting yourself - and others - into trouble. It absolutely has to be at your own risk. These areas are generally not avalanche-assessed and have other hazards which you might not know unless you live in the area.

So either you save up loads of money and stash it away for the day when/if you come acropper and end up having to be airlifted off some god-forsaken slope, or you curtail your off-piste tendencies by finding more challenging, officially designated areas to ski.

Bear in mind that if you do have an accident off-piste, the ski guides are going to have to put their lives at risk to rescue you - that's if they can find you in the first place.

Sorry to sound so doom-mongering. I've seen too many people get themselves into scrapes when they should have known better to be sympathetic to off-pisters I'm afraid.

Good ski seansonaire insurance!?

We Answered:

Cant be standard ski cover - that has a limit on the length of cover (normally a max of 17 days)

Try natives (WWW.NATIVES.CO.UK) as that's the big site for people working for the season.

or here http://www.ski-insurance.co.uk/ski_seaso…

Dont think you will get both ski and work cover on one policy

Will my homeowner's insurance cover vandalism to my jet ski?

We Answered:

Usually a homeowner's insurance policy excludes watercraft. But you will have to look through your exclusions section in your policy. Vandalism is sometimes excluded as well.

Skiing travel Insurance?

We Answered:

Hi,

In answer to your question, I recently come across this site - http://www.insureforall.com Now, they specialise in providing travel insurance for those who are 65 and cover those who have a pre-existing medical condition.

I've done some research into this, and this what I got in return:

Policy Name: Insure For All Winter Sports (Single Trip)
Policy Price: £28.59 (one person)
Including pre-exisiting medical for over 65
In Europe

Policy Name: Insure For All Winter Sports (Single Trip)
Policy Price: £64.98 ( x2 over 65 without pre-existing)
In Europe

If you ask me that's a good price!!

However I also found another site which offer ski insurance, http://www.completeski.com Again I've done some shopping around, and this is what I got in return:

Policy Name: Single Trip SKi Policy
Price: £33.43 (for 2 people on that age group - 28 & 32)

Let me know what you think.

snow skiing insurance for winter season in the U.S.?

We Answered:

Don't know of any. And i'd have to figure you're not going to have much luck finding any that isnt going to cost an arm and a leg, at least with that type coverage.
But a good set of wrist guards and knee pads ALWAYS helps.
I speak from experience.
2nd time out, broken wrist
5th time out, water on the knee
bought pads
6 years since and no injuries
