Self Employed Health Insurance?

We Answered:

I purchased insurance from Celtic insurance. They had a good HSA for a family and reasonable rates. Good luck!

self employed insurance?

We Answered:

No insurance, insures pre-existing conditions. The coverage wasn't in effect at the time of the injury, why should the insurance now pay?

Jose Said:

How do i switch from a group plan to self employed insurance with pre-existing condition?

We Answered:

Many individual policies will not accept anyone with diabetes. There are some that do if you control it with only diet. Some will accept you with one oral med but may rider or rate up your diabetes and you still may have a waiting period. You also mentioned you are overweight. All individual policies have a height and weight guideline. Some companies will decline you with a BMI of 30 while some will accept you with a BMI up to 40 with a higher premium. However, with both diabetes and overweight your options will be very limited. Visit a local agent that works with all the major companies in your area. If there is a company that will accept you, and on what terms, the agent will know. There is no extra charge using an agent.

One option to keep your current policy is COBRA if your current plan has more than 20 employees. You will have to pay your share of the premium, your ex-employers share, plus a 2% admin fee. COBRA will last up to 18 months. After COBRA, if you have not found another policy, you will qualify for a portability plan. The insurance company must accept you and must cover your conditions but there will be a higher premium. I have clients on portability plans paying anywhere from $1000 to $2700 per month.

For the record, all "self-employed" health plans are individual plans. Some companies market self-employed "group plans" but it is just a marketing gimmick and it is still an individual plan.

Is there any good disability insurances for self employed business owners that will cover lost income?

We Answered:

There are plenty of disability policies available to the self employed.
You can google disability insurance brokers or try this link http://www.disabilitybroker.com/

Don't call your auto and home agent they specialize in property and causality insurance. You need someone that specializes in disability insurance.

A Broker represents multiple carriers and can help you sort through all the different insurance companies and plan options in your state.

What are prospects for a Chiropractor in the near future regarding jobs, self employed, insurance coverage etc?

We Answered:

Warning! Chiropractic 'medicine' is one big scam. It never should have been covered by insurance and it probably won't be for long. It doesn't work and has NEVER worked. Chiropractors are scam artists - most had paid far too much for their education by the time they figured out it was a scam (if they ever did) to admit it. But it doesn't work. At all. If you really want to help people, just get a real medical degree.
