Does renters insurance cover animal attacks?

We Answered:

i don't know.but i have a section in my lease with our landlord that clears him of anything pet related.if my dog(another big baby)does anything to another person or pet ,it's entirely our responsibility.maybe you should think of doing the same.have your landlord amend your lease.

does renters insurance cover the cost of repairing a ceiling when a toilet gets clogged?

We Answered:

Ah so many ignorant people trying to answer these days. Any Tenant's Policy is going to include Personal Liability coverage. This liability coverage does cover you for damage to the premises you rent however there must be three conditions that must be met: 1) It must be accidental (if you intentionally trash your apartment as a parting gift to your landlord you're not covered); 2) The damage must be caused by certain perils (usually fire, explosion, water damage or smoke); 3) You must be liable for the damage. If the problem is something that has existed before and the landlord did nothing to repair the damage then you cannot be held liable therefore your policy won't pay for the damage, but then again you aren't responsible for the damage either.

does renters insurance cover damages caused by a power outage?

We Answered:

in texas... first you have to meet your deductible on the loss... usually 1% of coverage... then the cause has to be associated with the insured... or if power is lost, away from your property you are not covered. hurricane ike destroyed our city power lines east of houston but we are 100 miles to the north so no one was covered. the use of a generator will be covered but again you have to be carefull and meet your deductible. maybe your state has different criteria. always call your agent first.
