There are virtually no individual health insurance companies that will accept someone onto coverage while they are pregnant.

Many insurance companies will also not accept anyone else in the immediate family of a pregnant person onto coverage until after the pregnancy.

The reason that health insurance companies will not accept someone that is already pregnant onto the health insurance plan is the same reason that auto insurance companies will not give someone collision coverage on their car and pay for the damages after someone has already totaled their car.

The responsible thing to do is to purchase a health insurance policy with maternity coverage before one becomes pregnant and then one will not have to worry.

However, if you have low income then you will most likely be able to find help with a State or County program for pregnancy assistance.
