I am usually booking hotels, flights, car rentals all on different credit cards for the reason that each has different deals, points, miles etc. And I am buying Travel Insurance on a different CC, the one which has direct cash rewards. I’ve never had a problem with it.

I suppose it depends who you buy your insurance from, different companies cover different things. I believe th company I use for my trips cover theft, but you have to file a police report and use that as proof. Otherwise, they really have no way of telling what really happened.
