Motor Insurance Legal Cover

insurance questions help?

We Answered:

Would just add the following to Midnights excellent answer….

C Yes … but often it has to an ‘approved’ type to get a reduction in insurance cost, if you’re thinking of buying one to lower premiums make sure it has an accepted rating where you live. E.g. for the UK ‘Thatcham approved’.

D the excess is the amount you have to cover yourself. So if you have a claim for 499 (or less) and the excess is 500…. you get nothing, if the claim is for 501 ….you get 1....600 you get 100... etc etc.
Obviously the higher the excess the less likely you are to claim and so the premium is cheaper.

E The car value will affect the premium, but it’s often a very small factor. (Midnight has explained most of them) so don’t expect to see 50% difference in premium for the same car worth 10,000 or 5,000 (or even 10% probably). The real cost of insurance is related to what damage you might cause to other people/property and for that reason your driving record and the make/type of car will make much more difference than its value.

Yea or Nay: eliminate medical portion of auto insurance?

We Answered:

No, I think craft legislation requiring the enforcement of the immigration laws. Here the illegals drive with what we call "Nike" insurance. They hit your car and then run. So, we have to carry extra. I

Additionally, legislation to improve the way insurance is proven. Geico gives insurance proof cards for a year. Even if you stop paying and the policy is not valid, you get a "good" card. This card can be shown at an accident, and the police don't consider this fraud.

The laws we have are fine, they are just not enforced!

Edit:

Fabulous, so you want to enact "regressive" taxation? Don't know what that is, look it up. You asked for an opinion, and like most politicians, if you don't like the answer, spin. deny and accuse. If you want to raise the darn fuel tax, then put it towards enforcement of the laws that are already on the books. At least it would be correlative taxation.

Legal advice on traffic issue?

We Answered:

The date error is non material and will not affect the validity of the charges - for an error to result in dismissal it has to be dealing with the facts of the case, not administrative matters. Legally, the officer doesn't even have to do you the courtesy of replacing the citations, the court can just send you notice of the date change. The only thing this error would cover you for is if you missed the original court date.

What legal options do I have regarding a car accident caused by an illegal immigrant?

We Answered:

You need to get a GOOD lawyer. According to DHS rules, the illegal alien that caused the accident is supposed to be held in prison on at a minimum of $100k bond for driving with an illegal drivers license an causing an accident. You need to sue the police department for negligence and force the police department to pay for all the damages to your vehicle.

motoring offenses and legal advise?

We Answered:

If you have already got the points and fine then you cannot appeal.
It sounds like you got an FPN and paid it. That is simply an admission of guilt.
If you wanted to challenge it then you would have had to go to court.

There must have been either a copper who saw you and did you on the spot or they have video evidence.

NO, if you can't afford a solicitor then there is no-one else who will sponsor this case.

If I collect a car with a person with a trade motor policy am i covered?

We Answered:

I must admit i am a bit confused - if you were driving then you aren't a passenger. Insurance policies may cover the owner's liability to passengers in the vehicle but that does not mean that the passengers are allowed to drive!

If your friend was driving then there should be no poblem.

The only 'sarcastic' comment I would make is that too many people believe that they know what is and what isn't covered under a motor insurance policy. Your tuition fee looks as if it will be a 6 point penalty and £60 fine. (Please remember to tell future insurers that you have the conviction).

Discuss It!
