Liability pays for property damage to other peoples property and injuries for which you are legally liable.

You can not be liable to yourself.

You need to check that with your auto insurance company. Different states have different regulations. In NYS, you are covered anywhere because we have "no fault" but I have relatives in NC that found out the hard way when they first moved there. Best to call your company for accurate information. Be aware of credit card coverage also because they too have inserted "legal" language that can come back to haunt you if a claim is filed. Not all cards are the same!!!

Just because you live at home and you have limited assets, does not necessarily mean you are free from your obligations. The injured party could still potentially garnish your future wages and assets. For an extra $202, I'd buy the coverage.

However, you should find out if your parents have an umbrella policy. You may be covered under that policy.

Very few insurance companies are going to be interested. Contact an independent agent in your area. Independent agents represent several insurance companies and can access the surplus lines carriers that would underwrite the risk situation you describe.

It depends on the state, but in general, insurance follows the car, not the driver, so the vehicle's insurance would provide primary coverage. If you are driving a rental, then no, liability coverage only is not sufficient, you will need to purchase the additional collision and comprehensive coverage from the rental vendor.

Odds are that the actual liable party here is going to be either the manufacturer of the water heater (depending on how old it is) or the condo association who may be responsible for maintaining it.

The lady below needs to report this to her insurance because I doubt any other party is going to step up and offer to pay without a long investigation. While she waits the water damage is only going to get worse.

Her company has a contract (policy) with her and under the terms of that contract they will pay her regardless of who caused the damage. Then her company will go after who ever they think is liable to seek reimbursement for the money paid and her deductible.

You are not liable just because the water heater was in your condo.

His insurance does NOT cover him to drive another vehicle under Liability only... Liability only covers him Driving the car he has insurance on.

Next if you have Full coverage or Liability with Uninsured underinsured your company will pay and will fight for you if you have your Cousin's insurance information...

If you both have the same Company coverage and He has Full coverage and you have full coverage they will work it out most likely...
