Depends on how it was broken. Yes, they're just as much your personal contents (assuming it's not a business computer) as everything else in the house.

But CONTENTS are covered under a "named perils" basis on the standard homeowners policy - so the REAL question is, what caused the loss? If it's a covered CAUSE of loss, that's covered property. "Oops I dropped it" or "oops the baby poured a glass of orange juice onto the keyboard shorting out the whole system (my oldest did that, sigh)" is NOT covered.

Depends on where you got it from. I work at Best Buy and they hand out an unlimited supply of chargers for laptops with broken ones. Contact who you purchased it from and ask. There's not much we can do here at Yahoo Answers I'm afraid :)

I work at State Farm and we offer a personal articles policy. All you need is a bill of sale/estimate/appraisal & pictures and it is very inexpensive to insure. I have insured $17,000 diamond rings for $130 a year, so of course it would be cheaper for a couple thousand dollar laptop. It's an all-risk policy so you'll get the money back no matter what happens. And you can have a $0 deductible. You might also want to check and see what your homeowner's insurance covers. it might cover the value of the laptop in your personal property coverage.

If it's just one tiny screw, you might be okay. Anything more would indicate you or somebody else had been attempting a repair yourself and that would void the warranty
