Is A Vasectomy Covered By Insurance

Ricky Said:

what is the average cost of a vasectomy reversal in massachusetts?

We Answered:

It depends on who you go to and if you are trying to reverse a partial or full vasectomy. A partial vasectomy is easier. All they have to do is minor surgery and take off any clamps or device used to pinch off the vas deference to prevent sperm from being released. If it was a full vasectomy, (where they actually cut the vas deference) they need to reconnect two ends. This is a bit more tricky and not always successful.

But yeah I think 2k as a minimum is a good bet. I would suggest you shop around and try to find a decent doctor at the best price possible.

Sperm has 7 calories would there be a reduction of calories if the man had a vasectomy?

We Answered:

wow....I never realised that there was so much I did not know about sperm....really it was quite interesting, thanks.

Sorry I do not know the answer to your question but I do not think a vasectomy would make much difference to a slimming diet's success

Arthur Said:

Are vasectomies covered by most health insurance providers?

We Answered:

A vasectomy is usually covered 100%. That is pretty much standard because getting a vasectomy is very good business practice for an insurance company. This is true because a vasectomy cost under $1000. The cost of a delivery room alone is more than $10,000.

Being single, they will not benefit from paying for your vasectomy. If you knock up some girl you met in a bar, her insurance has to pay for the delivery of the baby, not yours. That does not mean that they won't cover your vasectomy, but it does mean that they will have less motivation to do so.

I know a lot of men that had vasectomies in thier 20's, with no children, and many were not even married. Doing so is called being "Child-Free". Yes, there is a name for it. We also have "Child-Free" social groups where you can meet other people that don't want children.

Some insurance companies might not pay for it if they know you have no children. Some doctors won't do it for the same reason. This is not a law, it is just a policy made up by someone that thinks he or she knows better than you do. You may have to lie, telling them you have two children by a previous relationship or something like that.

I had mine done when I was 21. I am now almost 42, and very happy with my choice. The novelty of a vasectomy never ends.

Good luck, and congratulations on choosing to be "Child-Free". You have made a wise choice in an overpopulated world. Please spread the word to your friend’s children, so they will do the same!

Vasectomy words of wisdom ?

We Answered:

I had mine about 40 yrs. ago.So the procedure in regards to doing it in the first place may have changed. The woman I was married to at the time had 4 children from a prior marriage. I fathered one child and did not want any more. Based on the number of children we had the doctor consented to do the procedure. By the way it was our medical doctor who performed the procedure. Today you may get referred to a Urologist. This was done on a Friday, the dr. located the correct line (I don't know what it is called) put a small slit in the testicle , Pulled out the "line" cut this line and burned both ends, to seal them, put back in the testicle and sewed up the incision. This was done to the other testicle as well. I did not ice down my testicles enough and tried to return to work on the following Monday. I had to take off from work and go back home for a couple of days. So be sure to "ice down" for the swelling. I used condoms for a while (don't remember how long). Then was tested and my sperm was not alive and I went on from there. Things may have changed a bit as to procedure so check with your doctor.
