The important thing is to be extremely honest with the company or your policy will be worthless.

I could write a book on the horror stories I've heard as a travel/insurance rep about people who have lied about their conditions.

I completely agree. Its like buying home owner's insurance after your house burns down, or life insurance after you are dead. I think that for people with expensive preexisting conditions that something like medicare could be expanded to take care of them. Its not the best, but better than nothing. But people that have coverage should not be dropped just because they get sick. Insurance is a gambling industry, but they should not be allowed to renege on their bets.
