Insurance And Protection

Theresa Said:

what does personal injury protection insurance cover?

We Answered:

No.

The personal property in the vehicle is NOT covered by the automobile policy. The personal property is covered under the homeowners/renters policy. The homeowners/renters policy deductible will also apply.

Personal Injury Protection covers medical bills/wages up to the per person limit.

Collision coverage (if you have it) pays for the damage to the vehicle. The deductible will apply.

If the motor vehicle accident caused damage to another person's property, that would be covered under the Property Damage Liability coverage.

Ernest Said:

How does Personal Injury Protection Insurance work when you are driving someone elses vehicle.?

We Answered:

No, PIP is per occurance, so your mother in law should still be covered. It covers you, any household resident, or passenger in your vehicle. It also covers you while you are a pedestrian hit by a vehivle. It is called no-fault, ment to help lower the amount of medical lawsuits. Anyway, this is how it works w/my insurance company. I would ask your mother in law to call thier insurance company & just verify - but I believe it is the same for every insurance co. Hope you feel better.

Naomi Said:

VISA's car rental insurance protection, is it identical to what the car rental places offer?

We Answered:

Most credit card policies cover the damage deductible waiver clause of your rental agreement. Few cover loss-of-use, and I have only heard of one that covers liability. Find and read the NEWEST booklet for your card. All Visa and Mastercard issuers reserve the right to change the terms as well as the company underwriting the coverages.
