Income Protection Policies

Armando Said:

Income protection in Australia?

We Answered:

I am doing the same thing at the moment, but a bit further along, ING seem to be pretty good, they were the only ones that would cover me for scuba-diving, and working underground (part of my job). I combined my life insurance and income protection insurance, they were good on price despite being the only ones who would cover me for everything. I am now setting up an insurance only super fund. This is a SUPER fund account with ING which will be set up only for the insurance, but this means it is paid out of my pre-tax income. If you just pay for it normally the income protection insurance is tax-deductible.

Working for HBOS, can I still buy redundancy insurance?

We Answered:

I would imagine not. I also work for HBOS in the household insurance department and have wondered the same thing myself. However, if I think about it in terms of a household claim, we will not allow customers to protect their No Claims Discount before they know they need to make a claim, so I imagine the same thing applies to all insurance - if it's something that is likely to happen in the near future, I imagine you would not be covered for being made redundant. Good luck...we'll both need it!

Income protection policy not been accepted, why?

We Answered:

Pins and needles can be a sign or other things such as neurological problems (as previously mentioned) or of circulatory problems. The Insurer is not taking any chances!
