Income Protection Insurance

Rachel Said:

were can i find income protection insurance & how much?

We Answered:

Every insurance agent sells (or is affiliated with someone who sells) disability insurance.

If you're looking for business interruption insurance, contact a commercial insurance agent.

Brian Said:

personal income insurance?

We Answered:

You need to check the policy terms to see if you will get anything. It doesn't sound like you're totally disabled.

You don't specify if this is short term, or long term disability coverage you have. There are WAY too many variables for anyone here to "guess" if you're going to get any money.

Brian Said:

How many % of your income you will buy insurance as savings, retirement, investment and protection? Why?

We Answered:

Insurance is a bill. I don't even look at that. With my net 25% goes to bills...car, house, etc. and what is left out of that goes to me. 50% goes to savings and 25% to investments. Why? Because I don't want to worry about crap. I want my money socked away so that I'm secure . Never homeless or hungry.

Roy Said:

income protection for renters do you know of a insurance for this?

We Answered:

Your question is somewhat vague, I can interpret it two ways, so I'll answer it both ways.

You're renting a dwelling (you pay rent to live there, whether it's an apartment, a house, one room, whatever) and you want to make sure that your income doesn't stop so that you can continue to pay your bills. If this is the case, you'd want to consider applying for Disability Income insurance. It's a policy that will pay you a specified monthly income (usually about 60-80% of your actual gross income) if you become disabled.

Or, you own a house or apartment or something that you rent to others and you're worried about losing out on the income that the rent provides. If you have a Rental Dwelling policy, they usually include a coverage called "Loss of Rents" or something similar. This means that if there is a covered loss, like a fire, and you're unable to rent out the home, the insurance company will reimburse you for the loss of rental income because you can't rent out the house while it's being repaired. Some companies restrict the monthly income and the length of time, others (like the one I work for) will just reimubrse you your actual losses with no real restrictions. I'm not aware of any insurance policies that will reimburse you for lost rental income if the home is just vacant because you can't find a tenant.

So, I'm not exactly sure what your question was, but I hope I answered it.

I have been off sick following surgery for 38 weeks. Why will my income protection insurance not pay out?

We Answered:

you need to talk to someone that is above your HR dept

I can't believe HR said "stop harassing them" - I would fire someone who said that to an employee in a minute.

there is no excuse for not having that benefit paid to you for the last 12 weeks - that;s ridiculous

call your company president if necessary and see if he can kick someone's @ss and get things moving

Doris Said:
