House Insurance Cover

Barbara Said:

does house insurance cover ALL damages needed to be repaired, by a window leak?

We Answered:

homeinsurance.awardspace.us - try this one. Got my home insurance from them. As I know they provide such a service.

Laura Said:

will my house insurance cover my shed being hit by my truck?

We Answered:

Maybe, maybe not.

Your auto liability, though, will NOT pay for damage you do to your house. See, that liability coverage really is "damage to property of OTHERS". It doesn't cover damage to property that is YOURS.

So. The auto policy won't pay, for sure. And some homeowners policies ALSO exclude damage done to the building, by a car owned by or operated by a household member or the insured.

You'll have to ask your agent, or read your policy.

Harvey Said:

Would house insurance cover a stolen Ipod?

We Answered:

Most homeowners policies cover theft, regardless of where it occurs. Of course, the deductible applies, so your Mom will have to pay the deductible. Turning in such a small claim on her insurance policy will cause her to lose any claim free discount she carried and too many claims in a short period of time can cause a cancellation of her policy.

Sandra Said:

Does House Insurance cover an Air conditioning repair?

We Answered:

It depends on WHY it's broken.

Mechanical breakdown, wear and tear, isn't covered under homeowners. You really just have to plan and budget for replacing the a/c and furnace every 15 years or so. It's part of maintenance.

If, however, someone (who doens't live in your house) whacked it with a baseball bat, that's covered (vandalism). If it got fried due to a lightening hit, THAT'S covered, too.

Jesse Said:

Does house insurance cover structual damage such as rot wood beams?

We Answered:

Homeowners policy's will state the damage must be ''sudden and accidental'' and not ''gradual deterioration'' These policy's are so hard to read and understand. Would probably be a good idea to turn the claim in and get an answer, especially before it gets any worse.

Jeffery Said:

I got pick pocketed, will my house insurance cover the theft of my phone?

We Answered:

Nobody on here can answer for you- each and every house insurance policy is different I'm afraid. Depending on how much you paid/what insurer you went to it could potentially be covered but the only way to know is to get out your policy and take a good look at the fine print. This will also tell you what the excess charge would be should you be covered.

P.S- people on here saying "was your house pick-pocketed" clearly do not have any experience in owning/insuring a house. Extended cover to include items damaged/stolen outside the house is common!!

Eleanor Said:

Does the house insurance cover material things that are damaged?

We Answered:

Yes, homeowners frequently covers damage to contents, for named perils.

Water damage to contents from a burst pipe, usually isn't one of them, but as you'll be filing a claim anyway, include all the items damaged with your claim.

Discuss It!
