House Contents Insurance Cover

Andre Said:

MacBook Pro BROKEN House Insurance?

We Answered:

Hi

That really sucks!

Some house contents policies would cover this, but only for the amount of damage over your deductible.

If it is covered, your insurer would look at the cost of replacing the screen vs the cost of replacing the whole mac book.

So how do you know if the policy will cover it? If you have a comprehensive policy, and this is not specifically excluded, you can put a claim in. You will have to check your policy. Sorry I can't be more definite.

Hope that helps!

Oh - One last comment if you have several claims in a short time you could have your insurance cancelled. So weigh the pros and cons of claiming carefully.

Does house and contents insurance cover loss of fences blown down by wind?

We Answered:

The answer is no.

I work in insurance, any storm damage caused to gates, fences and hedges is specifically excluded.

Its the same under all insurance policies. Its due to the 1987 hurricane.

Velma Said:

if you have full house contents insurance does it cover HP Agreements?

We Answered:

HP meaning, Home Protection? Harry Potter?

Contents on the standard policy, are covered under a named perils basis. Whatever your HP stands for, it doesn't modify the homeowners policy.

An AGREEMENT is a contract. Your contents coverage does NOT cover "contracts".
