Get Cover Home Insurance

Byron Said:

will texas fair plan home insurance cover home repairs?

We Answered:

No, it won't. Here's how it works: you apply for the policy, you send in the full premium amount. You have to declare damages on the application. Within 10 days, they send an inspector out to look at the premises. They give you a list of repairs that YOU have to make, at YOUR cost. They give you 30 days to make the repairs, and if it's not done, they cancel your policy.

You have to pay for your own repairs and maintenance.

Buying new home. Will our Home insurance company cover our new home? filed claim a year ago?

We Answered:

Most insurance companies only look back at claims going back 3 to 5 years depending on state regulations. I have never heard of any company going back 8 years. However, bear in mind that underwriters can still sometimes "see" these old claims in the system and while they are not supposed to base their underwriting decisions on old claims they will sometimes look for a reason to turn something down. That said this latest claim does not sound as if it is your fault or as if you will be held liable. So I believe your insurance company will insure your new home and you probably have nothing to worry about.

I do hope that you continue to keep a fence around your property and you should consider posting dog warning signs and no trespassing signs as a warning.

Note that offering a higher deductible would not make a difference since the deductible applies to property losses not liability claims.

I hope this information helps. Good Luck

My kitten has just jumped onto my leather sofa and ripped it.Does home insurance cover this.?

We Answered:

This sort of damage can be repaired quite successfully. You can check your insurance and you may be covered. If you are covered it is likely that the insurance company will pay for a repair and not a replacement.

It may not be worth claiming on your insurance as the cost of repair may not exeed the excess on your policy.

If you have any photos of the damage you can email them to us and we can assess for you whether it can be repaired (you may even be able to do it yourself)

Does Home Insurance cover vandalaism to a car ?

We Answered:

NO - yours does not...
But if you know who did it - and they or their parents have a Homeowners policy with "Damage to others property" on it - that would pay your repair bill...If you can prove (or get them to admit) they did it

Brandon Said:

Does State Farm home insurance cover act-of-god accidents?

We Answered:

There's no such thing as an act of God accident, in the insurance world. Everything covered, or not covered, is specifically described on the policy.

Power surge IS covered. Damage to tubes or transistors by power surge, is NOT covered. Anything that IS covered, is subject to your DEDUCTIBLE.

So. How much is your deductible, and how much would it cost to replace the television, or fix it? They'd pay the lesser of those two, minus your deductible, as long as the damage isn't to a tube or transistor.

Discuss It!
