European Insurance Cover

Erika Said:

find me 12 month european insurance providers?

We Answered:

You can insure you car in a another country. But if your travelling around more than one country you will be lucky to find anyone to insure you.
But be careful if you are living in another country you can usually only use your car for 180 days before you have to register it in that country.

European car insurance?

We Answered:

By law you'll be covered anywhere you go within Europe.. you'll be surprised to find that there are no borders, no checks, unlike when coming back to the UK.
However some UK insurers insist that you let them know, so that they can sting you some money. This is questionable but they do it.

i have a motibility vehicle under RSA insurance. i just wanted to know does it cover the european union?

We Answered:

autoinsurance.maclenet.com - try this one. I have their car insurance and, as I know, they can provide such a service.

Hector Said:

Which European breakdown cover is good?

We Answered:

i would first try here: www.simplebreakdowncover.co.uk. they compare uk and european covers - actually compare, not only list banners and ads. but what is even more important they give you the exact premium based on your requirements (i.e. car age, number of days you want to go for etc.) for the whole variety of recovery providers (aa, rac and smaller ones). and those they do not list those policies that you can't buy (i.e. your car is to old).

cheers

european health insurance card help and what it covers?

We Answered:

Do you mean you applied for the EHIC card? If so then this covers you only as a tourist in the Netherlands and only for emegency cover, so e.g. going to a doctor for a routine issue is not covered only. it is only for emegencies and may not even cover all costs anyway. An EHIC card issued by the UK is only for UK residents. http://www.fco.gov.uk/en/travel-and-livi…

As soon as you register at the gemeentehuis (municipality) which you will need to do in order to get a BSN number (like the UK NI number) in order to work, then you become a legal resident

When you are legally residing in the Netherlands the EHIC card will not cover you, and all NL residents are required by law to have the basic health insurance cover. http://www.minvws.nl/en/themes/health-in…

Now there is one possibility I know of if you are not working and that is claiming benefit under the E106 and you can read about this here http://www.nhs.uk/NHSEngland/Healthcarea… However as soon as you have work, then you will need Dutch health insurance.
