Gail Said:

will employment insurance cover my trip to the dentist?

We Answered:

Hmm..

The Employment Insurance (EI) program provides temporary income support to those who are between jobs; cannot work for reasons of sickness, childbirth, or parenting; or who are providing care or support to a family member who is gravely ill with a significant risk of death. So, it doesn't cover the medical cost, it just ensure that you will have the same income/salary although you leave your work for a while.

However, some of the EI is mix with health insurance that may or may not cover your trip to the dentist. You need to check it out at your Human Resources Department or to the Insurance Company.

Hope this information help you.

Sergio Said:

Am I covered by Employment Insurance (CANADA) if I have Laryngitis and am unable to work?

We Answered:

I don't think so but I'm not sure. There used to be a 2 week waiting period before the insurance kicked in so basically you had to be off work for at least 2 weeks before any money starts rolling in. Also, I can recall some people I have known in the past waiting for 6-8 weeks before they got the first set of cheques. I'm guessing your employer does not provide short term sick leave pay so maybe you should ask them if there is another job you could do for a few days while your voice heals. That is probably a better option rather than trying to rely on anything the government might offer.

Will adding me to my spouse's insurance cover the prenatal expenses?

as long as your switching from one group to another, then you'll be fine. Check w/his companies benefit dept because open enrollment periods vary (in some states, you can only be added on during 1 month). You can also try the # on the back of his insurance card.

Sue Said:

Does Employment Insurance cover the cost for your Ged in ontario?

We Answered:

No they will not cover the cost of a GED Part time on your own, they will pay you to go to class full time at ALC to get your GED. They will also pay you to Start your own business. They will also pay for College once you are done your GED. EI has so many great programs that only a 10th of the people on it apply for. so get them to extend your benefits for ALC.

Vicki Said:

Employment Insurance?

We Answered:

Every company has different policies about whether medical benefits will cover these types of periods, and how long they last after you are no longer working there, whether you were laid off OR fired.

You need to contact your employer - get with the HR department if you have one (Human Resources) and ask this question to them.

No one on the answers community knows how your employer operates.

Take care!
