Does Insurance Cover Abortion

Rita Said:

Do you think that welfare should cover an abortion on their insurance?

We Answered:

Three points in favor: an unwanted child is an abused child; statistically in states that ban abortion crime rates are higher (unwanted kids become criminals); welfare kids imply expensive services and subsidies.

Contra is the matter of officially encouraging something of questionable morality. Why not encourage birth control instead? (The answer is that those who campaign against abortion are, for the most part, vociferous opponents of birth control as well, only they don't come out and say it.)

Sue Said:

Does Insurance cover the abortion pill?

We Answered:

Yes it does. It will also cover a surgical abortion, if you are to far along for a medical abortion (pill) which they won't give you after 6 weeks.

Maxine Said:

Does Medi-Cal Insurance cover abortion costs?HELP PLEASE!!?

We Answered:

First off you are a brave lady for asking this question here. Prepare for some very unkind things to be said to/about you...ignore them and make a decision based on what is best for you and your situation.

That being said, I'm not sure how medi-cal insurance would work in this situation.

Do you have a planned parenthood or some other type of womans clinic near you? Planned Parenthood for example works off a basis of how much you can afford to pay. If you cannot afford anything then the service is free from what I understand.

Of course many people will tell you to consider adoption, and if you can go that route likely in the end you'll be happier with it. However I'm not you and I can't make that decision for you, no one can.

Consider speaking with someone you can trust to work through this time in your life, and if you do decide to go to a free type clinic like planned parenthood take advantage of the staff there and speak with someone to help you through this. Even if you are set on having the abortion they can work with you through this, and keep you from having to make this decision again in the future.

Good luck to you, good luck.
