Critical Illness Cover

Thomas Said:

Is critical illness cover worth the money?

We Answered:

It is worth the money yes. Critical Illness covers from Cancer to MS to Heart Attack to Heart ops to Strokes.
Some companies will cover more illnesses than others.
If you are thinking of getting CI cover it's best to get an IFA and discuss. Also, make sure you search through the market so that you can compare between diff companies and what coverage they offer and also the criteria for each benefit covered.

Eugene Said:

Can I claim For Critical Illness Cover?

We Answered:

OK, if you answered on her behalf, and gave WRONG answers, it jeapordizes coverage.

But you will have to call them, to get the exact definition of "critical illness", and how it applies when there are TWO mortgage payors. It could be she's not bad off enough to qualify. Or it could be that you won't qualify anyway, while you are still able to work.

Or, it could mean that they pay HER a lump sum that she can do whatever she wants with.

No one here could possibly know.

Clyde Said:

Has a cancer sufferer had their mortgage paid off with critical illness cover, and then lived?

We Answered:

Cancer insurance does not require that the policy owner dies in order to receive benefits. So, unlike life insurance, the policy owner can live and receive the benefits.

That being said there is no way that the cancer sufferer had a mortgage paid off unless the mortgage was $10,000. or less.

Many cancer insurance policies have fixed dollar limits. For example, a policy might pay only up to $1,500 for surgery costs or $1,000 for radiation therapy, or it may have fixed payments such as $50 or $100 for each day in the hospital. Others limit total benefits to a fixed amount such as $5,000 or $10,000.

Many policies contain time limits. Some policies require waiting periods of 30 days or even several months before you are covered. Others stop paying benefits after a fixed period of two or three years.

Eva Said:

When i took out critical illness cover my financial adviser asked me all the questions which i answered?

We Answered:

As they say - you could sue for anything, but whether or not you would win is another story.

You signed the contract, admittedly without reading the document and this can present a problem. A signature indicates you agree with what is contained in the document - even the incorrect answer.

You may want to try to find an attorney who offers a free or low cost consultation and see if there is a loophole with which to work - just to ensure you have exhausted all options.

Sally Said:
