Cover Direct Home Insurance

Velma Said:

Does the State of Iowa cover the cost of creamation for a parent that has no money or life insurance?

We Answered:

Sadly you will be left footing the bill. Social Security does provide a $650.00 death benifit which should help a little. Her husband, and minor children may also be eligible for survivor death benifits. My advice is to contact a social security attorney, their are plenty of them in the yellow pages and in internet directories.

Lucille Said:

Home Roofing insurance.....?

We Answered:

Normal wear & tear is listed as insurance claim.
Wind, hail, fallen tree branch, etc.. is the normal claims. Of course, you will have to name the day of this wind/hail that caused the damage. Check your policy; each one has differences.

Billy Said:

Will this be covered in my home contents insurance?

We Answered:

Its worth a try.

Glen Said:

does anyone have direct line home insurance,if so have you ever telephoned to ask if something was insured?.?

We Answered:

Even if you were told it was covered, if the subsequent policy sent to you didn't say that, you aren't covered. Check the written policy. There will be a 'get out' clause somewhere saying that what was communicated to you by the staff does not form part of the contract, and only the written contract has effect.

If you know the date of the call, they may have recorded it and in that case, if the person did say that the biuke was covered and they can find the tape, then you might shame them into making an ex gratia payment.

Otherwise you are screwed.

Home insurance claim. Will it be straight forward?

We Answered:

You need to check your policy details
but it should be a straight claim
Do you have to pay an excess? & will a claim
increase next years policy payment

It may be cheaper to bite the bullet and cover the costs yourself

hope it works out OK for you

Bernard Said:

Will travel insurance cover me if the BA strike means I have to stay longer than planned in the US?

We Answered:

BA has a 'duty of care' that will cover BASIC accommodation & meals for those who turn up at the Airport and find their flight canceled and BA unable to put them on an alternative flight.

Unless you agree with them in advance, they will NOT cover people who decide to stay in their Hotel (because they know their flight is canceled).

They will not cover your traveling costs (except to/from the BA chosen accommodation or from a 'diverted' Airport to the Airport you were due to land at), nor any 'consequential' costs (like, for example, the extra cost of 2 or 3 days car parking when you get back to pick up your car from a UK Airport Car Park).

Your private Travel Insurance MAY provide some compensation for a 'delayed' or 'canceled' flight - read the details, especially the 'exclusion clauses' (many exclude 'Acts of God' = Icelandic Volcanoes, and 'Industrial Action' = strikes.....

Discuss It!
