Comprehensive Insurance Cover

Gordon Said:

Does State Farms' Comprehensive Insurance cover running over a pothole and damaging my rear wheel arms?

We Answered:

Sorry, no it is not a comprehensive loss. It is considered collision. If you looked at the definitions of your policy you would see that your accident falls under the collision definitions and not the comprehensive ones. If you have both comprehensive and collision coverage then you can make a claim to your company. However, it might not be worth it for a $300 payable claim as your rates will likely go up.

Guy Said:

Does comprehensive insurance cover damage to my boat by leaving in the drain plug and filling with rainwater?

We Answered:

I'd bet no, it's not covered. But I've seen more than a few boats like this, and very little damage to the boat. Sometimes you have to work on an engine and rebuild a starter, but often the actual damage is minimal. Good Luck!

Jimmie Said:

What does comprehensive insurance cover?

We Answered:

Fire, theft, partial theft, vandalism, hail damage, hitting an animal (dog, deer, cat...), if something falls on the car (tree, basketball, piece of someone else veh on the highway), driving through standing water, if the car is flooded or struck by lightning.

That's all I can think of right now.

Henry Said:

comprehensive insurance cover vandalism?

We Answered:

It payed for a new back window, when mine was shot out with a BB gun. Check with them and see.

Justin Said:

Does comprehensive insurance cover cosmetic damages due to a low side crash?

We Answered:

No. Comprehensive Insurance - Auto insurance coverage providing protection in the event of physical damage (other than collision) or theft of the insured car. For example, fire damage or a cracked windshield would be covered under the comprehensive section.

For something of that nature, you would need collision coverage. Collision Insurance- Covers physical damage to the insureds automobile (other than that covered under comprehensive insurance) resulting from contact with another inanimate object.

Misty Said:

With comprehensive auto insurance (state farm), will it cover water damage if you drive through a deep puddle?

We Answered:

If the vehicle is flooded, then this would be covered under the comprehensive portion of the policy. If the cost to repair exceeds the value then the insurance will total out the car. They will pay the actual cash value of the vehicle minus the deductible and any prior unrelated damage.
