It's highly possible that your homeowners will take care of this.

As was mentioned, "cheap" is a relative term. If they are perfectly healthy, and not overweight, it's still not particularly likely that they'd find a provider willing to give them a private policy at their age - for only two years. There's nothing to gain, and everything to lose, from the insurer's point of view.

If they WERE able to find it, REASONABLE at their age, for a good low/no deductible plan, would be about $800 a month each- with NO coverage for stuff already wrong with them, like high blood pressure or asthma.

Yes, people at their age WILL take that job as a greeter at Walmart, JUST for the health insurance access.

Keep in mind, though, if they DO retire, and their employer is COBRA eligible, they can elect to continue their health insurance - at their cost - through COBRA. It would probably cost $800 a month or so, for BOTH of them, which is a darned sight better than any private policy will cost.

something like that would be your best option. the problem with dental insurance is no body thinks they need it until they have problem. everyone wants to sign up for $10/mn and get a $500 procedure done for free. it just doesn't work that way which i'm sure you know already.
