first off, you can apply as an English teacher from where you are...www.ajarn.com...they may even pay for your airfare..

you can get the health insurance when you are hired by institutions that provides one to its employees..its coverage depends on the type you're given and from which company..

some can get visas that long but I am not familiar with how to get it....but what I know is that you'd be given a month max. when you enter the country..you will have to make visa runs every month thereafter...but if you have a degree, schools you can work for may provide you with a work permit you'd renew annually.

I believe you can get those CELTA certificates by studying online..

Bangkok is the best place to start..expensive, yes..but there'd be lots of opportunities and fun things to do, too..from how much you got, you have more than enough..$1=30+ baht..just remember that you can always bargain in pretty much everything there..don't settle for the prices initially offered..

and yes, I believe they have competent players there, as well..
