Cat Insurance Cover

Anthony Said:

If someone's dogs kill my cat, does their homeowners insurance cover it?

We Answered:

#1 the dog that killed all of these animals should be put down and will be put down if you call animal control. there is no reason that this animal should be "loose" or alive.

and yes i do care about animals very much.

#2 no. homeowners will not cover this.

#3 they, the neighbors, should cover the cost of medical bills

#4 if they do not cover the cost of the medical bills i suggest you take this to small claims court ASAP

this happened with my dog...well he got attacked...my neighbor immediately told us she would cover the vet bill...we gave her the reciept of the the bill and she paid in full.

Tanya Said:

Does pet/cat insurance cover neutering and vaccinations?

We Answered:

No it's not covered, and yes it is good to have insurance. Indoor cats get ill too.
My indoor cat was very ill after a short boarding cattery stay (she caught a stomach virus) - she stayed in the animal hospital for a week on a drip. My insurance covered nearly £400 in costs.
I used Petplan and they paid up without a quibble within 2 weeks. The premiums also stayed the same - they didn't go up afterwards. Wow these people above are cynical - I've only had a good experience with Petplan.
The only downside is that they don't cover older pets and they won't pay an excess - I had to pay the first £50 of my claim, but they paid for all the nursing, treatment, drugs and diagnostic tests.
It's also up to your vet as to whether they claim their fees from the company, or whether you pay up front and claim the fee back from the insurer.

Loretta Said:

I am setting up a cat boarding business from home. Where can i get insurance to cover clients cats?

We Answered:

If you are a homeowner, call your insurance agent who handles your homeowners insurance. They will be able to assist you in adding this clause to your policy.

If you're NOT a homeowner, call your own vet and inquire about the pet insurance programs they have---there are several. Call a couple of different ones and find out if they also cover this aspect of animal care. Hope this has been helpful to you.

Do Toronto Cat Rescue have insurance to cover vet bills?

We Answered:

Its unlikely anyone here will know - I suspect you will have to find a telephone number or email address for them and contact them directly and ask them.

Heather Said:

Is it more expensive to get cat insurance when your cat is older?

We Answered:

It's only natural that the older anything becomes, the more likely it is that it can suffer illness as old age sets in. Insurance companies can only work if they make more money than they spend. So to take on an old animal, wouldn't be as cost effective for them as taking on a younger one.

Hence being more expensive as the animal gets older.

And no - I've never come across an insurance policy that covers spaying in a healthy animal to prevent getting pregnant. The only exception might be for something like a pyometra where the uterus has to be removed for health reasons.
