Car Insurance Cover Notes

Misty Said:

What is a cover note in a car insurance?

We Answered:

A cover note is a temporary insurance's certificate that is issued by the Insurer before the issuance of a policy after the Insured has given a duly filled in proposal form and has paid the premium in full. This note is valid for a period of 60 days from the date of issue of the cover note and the Insurer shall issue the Insurance certificate before the cover note expires.

Vincent Said:

Will gap insurance cover me if my car was stolen and I was 2 payment behind?

We Answered:

Home insurance covers lots of different things. I don't understand all the fine print of my homeowners policy, but my home insurance agent is always helpful. Try calling your agent or a homeowners agent in your city. http://www.usinsuranceadvisor.com/Home-I… They should be able to assist you.

Angel Said:

can i get a car insurance cover note but pay in 2 weeks time?

We Answered:

I very much doubt it. Even if they did, your insurance cover note is invalid until the premium is paid. So even if you managed to get a cover note as you suggest, you would still be uninsured if you were in an accident or stopped by the police.

Tracy Said:

What car insurance companies allow you to print off your cover note online?

We Answered:

Not sure what a cover note is. But when I faxed a change to my insurance agent and asked them to acknowledge by e-mail, they e-mailed me a PDF file of the changed policy (also received a mailed copy from insurance company).

For other things too like certificate of insurance at work, our insurance agent for that can send a PDF.
