Car Hire Insurance Cover

Jenny Said:

Insuring a hire car for four days?

We Answered:

Try searching Google for short term car insurance http://www.google.co.uk/search?num=30&hl…

Hiring the car and then paying for insurance separately will probably cost you a fortune. Try other car hire/rental companies as most will rent to anyone over 21 (with insurance included). It's best to go for the smaller companies as they can be more flexible than the larger well known companies. If you are in London I can tell you of a few.

Good Luck!

Hi do you need an international driving licence for USA and and additional insurance cover?

We Answered:

Your normal uk full driving licence is fine. if you hire a car they will sell you the insurance for it.
I would advise you to organise car hire before you go as it would be easier. if your going to florida i would recommend you hiring a car as everywhere is a distance and its really easy to drive over there. we went in january and i drove 850 miles in two weeks.

Insurance offered car hire - or check for $100. What to accept?

We Answered:

Read your insurance policy and see if there is any time limit on a rental car while yours is in the shop. If no limitations take the rental car for ever how long it takes until your vehicle is ready to be picked up.

Margaret Said:

In Fuerteventura which car hire companies have insurance that covers driving on dirt roads.?

We Answered:

You will find that car hire companies have a clause in the terms and conditions of hire that if you damage the tyres or wheels you are liable, if you drive the car off road and damage the underside of the car you are also liable.

Constance Said:

Is there a credit card that will cover you for car insurance when you hire a car abroad esp America? Thank you

We Answered:

Depends where you live is the simple answer. I know that citizens of the USA do have insurance coverage when reserving through certain credit cards.

However if you are a non US citizen looking to reserve a car in the USA then it isn't really an issue. Rather than booking directly with a car rental company book through one of the major brokers. www.carhire3000.com, www.holidayautos.co.uk. All the cars they rent in the USA are sold fully inclusive of all insurances with a zero excess in case of an accident. You'll find it much cheap booking a car with them than booking direct with a car rental company and then paying all the insurances locally.

Nicholas Said:

anybody know how hire car insurance works?

We Answered:

Your insurance company will be glad to answer this question. You must have the exact information from the actual company to be sure they are covered. People lend their cars to visitors all the time, so I am certain there are ways to cover them. Just call and make sure everything is in place and that they have all the registration and insurance information with them when they drive.

As for insurance on the hired car, many credit cards say if you use their card they cover the insurance. To be sure, call your own company and check. Better save than sorry.

You are a wise person to ask this question.
