Car Cover Insurance

Gabriel Said:

If your car got hit and it was a hit and run will insurance cover it?

We Answered:

If your policy has collision coverage your insurance will cover the damage less the amount of your collision deductible. If you have no idea who hit your car there is no reason to report the incident to the police.

Walter Said:

Will car insurance cover in case my friend crashes my car?

We Answered:

Queen B has correct answer. All polices include any licensed driver not living in your residence, regardless of that persons driving record. You do not have to inform your agent that someone other than you is driving your vehicle. However, if your friend does have a accident and your insurance runs your friends MVR and finds any adverce tickets or accidents it can exclude that person from your policy. Hope this helps. PS. The answer from Real_Piz is a not acurate. uninsured/underinsured pertains not to a driver of your vehicle, but to the other vehicle you are involved in an accident with.

Julio Said:

Someone broke into my home, took the spare keys to my truck and stole it. Will Car Insurance Cover it?

We Answered:

I am really sorry that happened. The theft of the auto will be covered under your comprehensive coverage. Make sure you tell them the key was stolen from your home.

The theft of your personal items from your home will be covered under your renters policy.

Myrtle Said:

Does My Car Insurance cover me to drive any car?

We Answered:

You will not be covered. Whilst some policies allow you to drive another vehicle on a third party only basis, it has to be a vehicle that is not owned by you and even then, the owner of the vehicle has to have their own insurance on it.

As for tips to get out of it, there aren't any other than to pay a fine and get some insurance. The law is there for a reason. I am sure if you were driving your other insured car and another uninsured driver crashed in to you, you would not want them to get off with it. Nobody likes paying for insurance, but we all have to, and there are no preclusions for anyone.

Tanya Said:

if i run into a house with ny car, will my liability car insurance cover damage?

We Answered:

Yes, you should be covered if you are carrying liability insurance coverage at the time you hit the said house. The question here is how much in total dollar figures are the damages to the house worth? New York has the 25/50/10 rule; the last figure means your liability insurance should at least carry $10,000 that covers for any property damage you cause. Hopefully you're carrying more than that, especially if the total damages exceed that $10K minimum limit. You should check with your insurer right away.

Also it's just worth mentioning that since you only have liability insurance you'll probably have to shoulder the costs of any damages or needed repairs on your vehicle. Comprehensive insurance usually takes care of that, but you might know that already. :-)

Hope this helps!
