Building Insurance Cover

Karl Said:

Does u haul insurance cover if you ran into a building on there property ?

We Answered:

The question is too vague. If you bought the Uhaul insurance coverage, and drove the Uhaul truck into the Uhaul building, yes, it's covered.

If you didn't buy the Uhaul insurance, and drove your OWN vehicle into the Uhaul building, even if Uhaul has building insurance, their insurance company is going to come after you - or your auto insurance - to reimburse them.

If you didn't buy Uhaul insurance, and you drove THEIR truck into THEIR building, you are uninsured. They will expect you to pay for this. Your personal auto insurance will NOT carry over onto a Uhaul rental TRUCK.

**an e-surance agent just emailed me, telling me I'm way off base here, because you didn't mention a vehicle, so OBVIOUSLY ran into the building with your body. So if you want to clarify for his edification, whether you were driving something, he might be brave enough to answer your question. If you were not, indeed, driving something, just let me know, and I'll edit my answer.**

Jessie Said:

Halifax Building Insurance doesnt cover my water damaged ceiling, why?

We Answered:

almost all insurance contracts only cover sudden damage to a roof . tornado , hurricane, severe weather, hail ,or an accident trees falling etc. a leaky roof comes under failure to do normal maint. Unless you can prove the original leak was caused in an extraordinary way your probably stuck with the bill.

What companies are writing Insurance to Cover the building for HOA in CA,I am an insurance Broker?

We Answered:

Jessi, you're a broker, and can't find any MARKETS?

What aren't you telling us? Are there substandard conditions? Unrepaired damage? High vacancy?

I'd suggest you go to a local wholesaler if you don't have contracts with any carriers that will do this for you.

Edward Said:

Does a "bare walls" fire insurance policy for a condo building cover anything inside?

We Answered:

No one here has any way of knowing.

You ACTUALLY need to check the condo bylaws, to see what the association is responsible for, and what YOU are responsible for.

If the bylaws say "bare walls including interior walls", then the only parts of your unit included for coverage would be drywall - no paint, built in cabinetry (NOT any improvements you made, but the standard), and subflooring. Bathtubs and showers WOULD be included - but only the standard for the association, NOT any upgraded ones you might have put in.

THIS IS GOING TO VARY. You will have to check with your agent, AND READ YOUR BYLAWS.

Marion Said:

if someone jumps off a building and hits my car, will my insurance cover it, and will my rates go up?

We Answered:

Their homeowners? No. Their life insurance? No. Their car insurance? No. Their workers comp? No.

YOUR insurance will cover this damage, under "comprehensive", falling objects. If you have no other comprehensive claims on your records, this won't make your insurance go up, unless you're receiving a "no claims discount".
