There are several insurances out there. Not sure where you live, but check with your vet, do a goodsearch.com on animal insurances and determine what would be best for the animals you own. Also, check with whereever you work. Sometimes companies have a vet insurance as part of their package. Mine does, so I cannot recommend mine because you do not work there.

You need to go to a local, independent agent. If you buy it off a website, you're much more likely to be scammed, or unhappy with the plan - your "in network" emergency room might be 300 miles away.

A local agent will have a feel for who is competitively priced in the marketplace, with good coverage, AND who has local providers.

Now, just posting this question here, you're going to get SPAMMED with non-insurance ripoffs like "health discount plans". So there's ANOTHER reason to go with a local agent - after you pay your money, if there's a problem, you can LOCATE them. Your emails won't bounce back!!

Hi Emily - I'm currently insured with Tesco - standard policy. One of my cats suddenly became ill. I contacted them straight away and they sent the paperwork which was duly filled in and returned. Sadly my cat died from this illness and although they removed him from the policy straight away my new quote was DOUBLE the previous premium and I am insuring fewer cats now! This all started 3 weeks ago and I have heard nothing - except that they are doubling my premium for the next 12 months at least.
