Accident Cover Insurance

Anita Said:

If my license is suspended, and i get into an accident, will my insurance cover it?

We Answered:

No, your insurance won't cover you.

If it's not your fault, you may be able to recover your losses through the other party's insurance, you are not automatically at fault becuase your licence is supsended (though it won't help your case).

It's worth keeping your coverage though, as you will still be covered if it's stolen, or if another (licenced) driver is driving your car.

Free advice fropm someone in the industry - DON'T drive a car while you're supsended. Cop it on the chin, walk or catch a bus for 3 months. If you end up with 'driving while suspended' charges you'll find your premiums will go up like a *****.

**EDIT**
I want to repeat for effect (seeing as there are some incorrect assertions below) that you are not 'automatically' at fault for an accident due to being suspended, but you will be charged if the police are involved.

Will my mothers insurance cover me if accident occurs?

We Answered:

you should be fine for now, when you have a license, it is a good idea to call the insurance company and add or exclude you as a driver. If you look over her insurance contract there should be some section where it talks about newly licensed drivers in the house hold. Since right now you are under your mothers supervision, you are her responsibility, so relax, pay attention and do the one thing you need most right now is experience. Always pay 100 percent attention to where the front of your car will be, in the next 100 feet, at 30 mph. Even at 30 you can blink, or look away for a second, and somebody right in front of you will pick that moment in time to hit the brakes to go left, right, or stop.By focusing attention always forward, like for example if you check the rear view, go back to the front, then go check the right, back to the front, train yourself to constantly scan everylittle detail in regards to where your car is going, and where that front end will be in the next hundred feet at 30mph. Freeway speed is twice as fast, and you need more distance, between you and the car in front. If something down the road, does not look right, like say everyone hits the brake lights at the same time, get off the gas, and have a foot over the brake, by being ready, for anything, or having your foot over the brake pedal with the car slowing, can give you the valuble second or two you need to saftly stop. It is much more difficult to focus, when there are a car load of people, so be aware, even if things appear fine, focus on the road ahead, as far as you can safetly see, and pay attention. Your mom is a brave woman, and she deserves a BIG HUG, not everymom or dad for that matter can give driving experience to you in a calm controlled manner, so for what its worth, let her know, you apriciate all of her dedication and strenght and help. good luck be good and stay out of trouble!!!

Canmy personal car insurance cover an accident that was not my fault, even though I was driving a company car?

We Answered:

autoinsurance.undonet.com - try this one. I have their car insurance and, as I know, they can provide such a service.

Eileen Said:

I have no licence the car in insured, got in a car accident not my fault will insurance cover it?

We Answered:

Probably, although the insurance company may argue that without a license you shouldn't have been there, and if you hadn't been there there would have been no accident.

Also you will probably get ticketed for driving without a license, and there is a very good chance your insurance will either go way up, or they will cancel you.

Yvonne Said:

How much does insurance generally cover in a minor accident?

We Answered:

well...
since you damaged someone else's car, it will probably cover all of it. You should ask your insurance company.
*calling 911 for a fender bender in a parking lot is not the way to go. It's hardly an emergency. The police won't even make a report here in Ohio for a minor private property accident.

You're probably better off, if you have the $568 handy, to just pay them off instead of going through the insurance agency. Your insurance rates are high enough I'm sure, the reported accident will just raise your rates even higher through the roof. Sorry to say that.

Alfredo Said:

Would my sons school have accident insurance to cover repairing the tooth he broke at school?

We Answered:

I don't see why the school should be responsible for something an individual child did. I would handle the situation with the other boy's parents IF the child knocked him down on purpose. Accidents happen (which I realize is why people have accident insurance), but if the school wasn't being negligent, I don't see bothering with getting the school to pay for it. Besides, can you imagine all the red tape you'd get tangled in trying to get the insurance to cover it?
