Professional Liability Insurance?

We Answered:

Even though you have listed 3 different items -- they are all beauty related and you can easily purchase a commercial general liability policy that includes professional liability coverage. You do not need to purchase 3 separate policies.

I suggest that you sit down with a local independent insurance agent that specializes in commercial insurance who will be able to advise you accordingly. If you need assistance in finding an agent in your local community, you can go to the website for the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America -- click on the Find An Agent tab and you will be able enter your city, state and zip code and pull up all the agents that are in your community. From there you will be able to look at the agent's contact information, website, qualifications, specialties and the companies they represent and choose the agent that you will work best for you. This website does not ask for any personal information nor does it store or sell your information to any third parties. The website is http://www.iiaba.net/agentlocator/findag…

I hope this information helps. Good Luck

Professional liability insurance for a Nursing Assistant?

We Answered:

As far as liability insurance is concerned the answer is as always...it depends. Normally you are covered by the employer. THat being said, if you do not establish that you are covered, they may not cover you. Make sure you establish who is paying for your liability coverage from the beginning.

However, as a practical point... there is very little responsiblity on the MA, as ther job is always assumed to be under the direction of the Nurse/Doctor. In over 30 years working in healthcare, I have never seen an MA named in a medical liability suit. The returns are too small. In other words, they will always go for the deep pockets. As an MA you might be covered for up to $100,000 per occurance. whereas, most health care providers are covered for $5million. Since you are under their direction... who whould your lawyer sue??

Where can I get professional liability insurance as a volunteer chemistry consultant?

We Answered:

You will need to contact an independent insurance agent that specializes in commercial insurance. Most of the big name companies will not write this type of business. You can find a local agent by going to the website for the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America and typing in your city or town and zip code. This will pull up agents that are in your community so that you can see their website including information on the companies they represent, their credentials and specialties. This website will not keep any of your information nor will they farm out your information to anyone. The website is http://www.iiaba.net/agentlocator/findag…

By working with an independent agent, you will be able to sit down and go over the exposures that you face with the type of business that you are in, review your lease or agreements (if you have any) to make sure that you are in compliance with any specific insurance related requirements and provide you with quotes that are sensitive to your budget.

Should a pharmacy technician have professional liability insurance?

We Answered:

Perhaps:

Yes you are covered by the institutions liability insurance, but this is also true of MD's and PharmD. They get there own because they want someone fighting in their corner fighting for there best interests and not the hospital or pharmacy.

Techs have liability when they make a mistake regardless of who checks it, however it is doubtful a lawyer would sue because they do not have the deep pockets a MD, PharmD, Hospital, Chain pharmacy have.

So theoretically Yes they should, in reality I doubt it is necessary. The profession is changing as techs gain more and more responsibilities so this could change in a few years.

Discuss It!
