most probably you are expected to get a car within three days assuming you have the check for your total losss in hand to pay down. you got a car for longer before because they knew how long it would be for the repair. they expect you to be looking during this three days.

A speeding ticket will always go to the driver and his driving record. Not yours and your insurance will not be effected.
I drive a truck (semi) for work and if they overload me and I drive it anyway down a restricted street, weight limit wise, (because the boss told me to) I will get the ticket and it goes on my record. And his insurance is not effected, mine is. No worries for you, just him. Good Luck. :^)

Nope. Only your states DMV can do that. What they can do is auction it off if it remains on their lot for an extended period of time.
