Travel Insurance Agencies

Roland Said:

Is it a rip off to get the "travel insurance" when purchasing packages through online agencies??

We Answered:

You have to make the decision.....is it worth the $80 if your trip is cancelled, or you get sick, etc.

With the growing number of small airlines that are going bankrupt and shutting down, travel insurance is becomming a more popular option.

Shannon Said:

travel insurance and travel agencies?

We Answered:

We offer tickets and insurance on our site. Different companies have different terms.

Keep in mind that checking with an agent is free to you. They may be able to offer you a lower fare or if the circumstances fit, they may be offer you consolidator fares. These are not open to the general public and not used for travel within U.S. but can offer significant savings for overseas travel.

My contact info is on my site, send me your proposed itinerary and I can check consolidator fares for you.

Travel insurance is insurance that is intended to cover financial and other losses incurred while travelling, either within one's own country, or internationally.

Travel insurance can usually be arranged at the time of booking of a trip to cover exactly the duration of that trip or a more extensive, continuous insurance can be purchased from (most often) insurance companies or banks, which covers all travel during the period for which the insurance was obtained.

The most common risks that are covered by travel insurance are:

Cancellation
Curtailment
Delayed departure
Loss, theft or damage to personal possessions and money (including travel documents)
Delayed baggage (and emergency replacement of essential items)
Medical expenses
Emergency evacuation/repatriation
Overseas funeral expenses
Accidental death, injury or disablement benefit
Legal assistance
Personal liability and rental car damage excess
Loss of income
Some travel policies will also provide cover for additional costs, although these vary widely between providers.

And in addition, often separate insurance can be purchased for specific costs such as:

high risk sports (e.g. skiing, scuba-diving)
travel to high risk countries (e.g. due to war or natural disasters)

What are the best Traveling Insurance Agencies out there? US and international?

We Answered:

The question is difficult to answer, as it depends a lot on your specific situation. Do you have health problems? What does your regular health insurance cover? Small kids or elderly persons you're traveling with? What is your tolerance for financial losses? Where do you travel?

One simple truth is that you don't need travel insurance in many cases!

Suzanne Said:

is travel insurance mandatory in France?

We Answered:

No.
When you enter France nobody ever asks you about travel insurance and I've been going for over forty years.
Your travel agent is trying to make a profit out of you..
It is , however ,wise to have travel insurance but you can buy that independently on the internet and it is usually cheaper than buying from a travel agent
