Willie Said:

Group insurance - can two small companies pool together to form one group to become eligible for group ins.?

We Answered:

No, you can't do this.

They'd have to be owned by the same company. If you formed a corporation to own both companies, that corporation would have to pay the bill. And, if the other company stopped paying, you'd be up the creek.

Marie Said:

Where are all of the small companies that will be required to supply health insurance for workers going to get?

We Answered:

We're expected to either go out back and pick the money off our money tree or simply put our hand between our butt cheeks and squeeze it out!

The moron is out to destroy America and capitalism. Under this plan, he is going to do away with all of the mom and pop businesses that have prospered just a little and they're going to have to completely re think private contractor industry.

I own a dog grooming shop. My wife and I employ five full time, two part time and two seasonal. We didn't "Hire" any one. Instead, we contract out the work to other small business owners who work for themselves. They are responsible for their own hours and taxes. Under Obama, all of these small business owners will simply go away, unable to pay their employees health care insurance plans.

We looked at offering insurance several years ago and found that we would be required to pay out $600 a month and then each "employee" would then be required to pay a little too. We're barely making the bills now. $600?! Somebody's smokin' somethin!

The answer then is education. Those who have higher education generally land better paying jobs and can then afford the priviledge of health care insurance. Those who don't go on to higher education get to work at minimum wage jobs and suffer the consequences of their poor life decisions.

Obama and the boys want to completely remove personal responsibility and accountability.

Ralph Said:

why is it that some small companies don't offer health insurance for employees?

We Answered:

Most likely it's cost.

Larger companies have enough employees to get much lower "group" prices from insurance companies. If you only have a few employees, the insurance companies are going to charge a lot more, and that may be cost-prohibitive for your company.

Unemployment benefits eligibility & insurance at small companies. Please advise. ?

We Answered:

Sorry to hear about that... I definately know what it's like cuz I was unrightfully let go at my job last year. Here is what I think, but I am not ABSOLUTELY positive tho', so you SHOULD keep researching.
1) No, the size of the company SHOULD NOT affect YOUR US RIGHT to recieve unemployment if you are let go. This is YOUR RIGHT as an employed US CITIZEN!!!
2) I wouldn't say 50%... Probably more like 75%... It differs for everybody depending on how much you earn.... I'm not sure, so if I were you I would contact your nearest IDES office. (Yeah, I live in Illinois too.)
3) Your only options for continuing health insurance is through your COBRA rights... Look it up on here if you want to know more details... Many ppl also qualify for medicaid, but that is like, if you are a single mom or your income is RIDICULOUSLY low... I didn't make that much money, was on unemployment (til I found my new job) and I JUST got divorced, so I thought I would go to the dept of public aid and apply for medicaid (I take adderall which is 150 dollars a month without coverage =[ ).... Anyways, they turned me down and gave me attitude about it JUST BECAUSE I WASN'T A PARENT!!!!! GEEZ!!!
~Oh, and I WOULDN'T recommend any temporary insurance agencies because whatever you DO make on unemployment will just barely cover your charges and premiums... Soooo not worth it. If you find yourself in a severely desperate situation, though, I would look in the phone book for the number of the closest free clinic (yes, there ARE some out there, but don't expect the best care... And their hours are crappy too!!!)
4) Just hang in there and be strong.... My advice to you is that when you DO enroll for unemployment, they will make you subscribe to the Illinois jobseeker website thingy.... It sux!!!! I didn't get ANY hits on that thing AT ALL, and I think I am a very valuable worker with excellent work ethic.... What WILL work for you in seeking a new job is to make a GREAT RESUME , put alot of thought into it, highlight your best qualities and assets and make an impressive cover letter to every company you send it out to... That worked for me!!!! Maybe I just lucked out, but if you give it your all, your gonna get it all!!! =)

The best of luck to ya!!!???

Tracy Said:

Which is better to go with, large or small insurance companies?

We Answered:

Large. Better rates are probably available, they're better-staffed and able to provide good service and they're generally more stable.

Jane Said:

Is it very costly for small companies to provide insurance for their employees? we get no health insurance?

We Answered:

It's based on average age and health. If the average age is 40, and there are some health issues, it could EASILY be $500 per employee, per month.

If the employee wants to cover their whole family, that runs $1,000 a month per family, sometimes more.

Discuss It!
