Renters Insurance Company

Lynn Said:

which company has the best renters insurance in terms of service and price?

We Answered:

definitely try an "a" rated carrier and opt for the all risk policy. most "all risk" policies include breakage and mysterious disappearance (your diamond fell out -who knows wear". ask for replacement cost. you shouldn't have to schedule items that are covered for breakage however if you have antiques then it is highly suggested that you do purchase a "floater" policy for many policies only give acv for antiques. good luck with your search. if you go directly to the carrier then chances are you will end up with someone over the phone who you will never meet and never get to talk to again. try your local agent, a reputable one and have them show you where in the policy jackett that certain coverage is or isnt provided.

Is what this renters insurance company did legal?

We Answered:

The legality of what they did will all depend on local state laws. In some states, they will automatically renew all policies, in others, you need to sign a new application in order to do so. Regardless, you may be able to fight the total charges for the insurance you were charged for due to something called a lack of insurable interest. If you can show proof that you did not reside at the property listed on the policy, you technically have no right to insure the possessions located within. This would be like you trying to insure a car that you don't own that was parked in the neighbor's driveway...you just can't do it. I might try to go this route and see what happens

Cathy Said:

which is the best renters insurance company in the cincy area?

We Answered:

If I were you, I'd look for an Erie agent. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Erie Insurance. I've never sold their products, but I have purchased them, and I got my parents to switch to Erie.

They're a regional carrier, so they don't do the high risk areas of east coast, florida, texas, california, so their rates are very competitive. And their claims service is great.

CHICAGO AREA RENTERS INSURANCE: What Companies Are Trustworthy and Reliable?

We Answered:

I use American Family because it gets me a discount on my car insurance, and my agent has always been really helpful (John O'Brien on the northwest side of the city).

My house burned down and the renters insurance company won't pay do I have a case?

We Answered:

It's pretty unusual to reinstate a policy without a no-loss letter. It's also pretty unusual to reinstate a policy with a known loss during the lack of coverage period. Depending on what state you are in, it's possible they reinstated the policy, but NOT giving you retroactive coverage.

They aren't required to notify you via telephone that the policy cancels - they only have to make an ATTEMPT by mailing a notice to your last known address.

You don't have a case. Sorry. Want a second opinion? Go to one of those "free consult" lawyers, see if they're willing to take the case on contingency - no win, no fee - if they win, they get 30% of the payout. I bet no one will take it - that means they don't think you have a case, either.

What Renters Insurance company has coverage in case of job loss?

We Answered:

There is no product that combines those coverages.

A renters policy protects you in the event of a fire or theft and it covers your personal liability.

A disability policy replaces your income if you are unable to work due to sickness or injury.

A workers compensation policy replaces your income if you are unable to work because you were injured while working.

Unemployment Compensation (paid by your employer) replaces a portion of your income if you lose a job through no fault of your own (i.e. laid off)

There is no single "super policy" that covers it all.
