Private Insurance Companies

Chad Said:

Do you believe private insurance companies will be willing to take on the risk of privatizing Social Security?

We Answered:

Insurance companies would not be involved. The privatization of social security would involve individuals setting up their own government approved IRAs.

An agreed upon sum would then be automatically deducted from each paycheck and deposited into the account. The big difference is that under no circumstances could the person dip into that account before retirement (or death).

No doubt the folks on Wall Street and the investment houses love this idea as it means more business for them. Also, it would mean that people who participate in the scheme would have a much MUCH greater retirement nest-egg when they retire.

The problem is that by taking these funds out of the Social Security system, the government would have no way of paying for current retirees, and the millions more who will retire on Social Security who did not have enough time to make these new investsments (i.e. "Baby Boomers").

Healthcare: why not have a public option to compete against private insurance companies. If you want to pay?

Why are private insurance companies working so hard to sabotage health care reform?

We Answered:

There are so many scare campaigns around that talk about the evils of "socialized medicine" and worst case scenarios. In reality, healthcare reform is so badly needed in the US and Universal Health Care is a key part of that. Every first world country on the planet has some form of government controlled health insurance program that covers all citizens, except in the US. Many of those countries still have private health providers (and HMO's) too. Nobody is going to go broke, Insurance providers (unless they are already going badly) are not going to go broke, those that want the "added security" of private cover can still have it.

People are afraid of change, but you can ask anyone who lives with Universal Health Care in their country and they would not have it any other way!

Universal Health Care means that all citizens are covered and can only benefit the country and it's people.

Derek Said:

How do I bill private insurance companies?

We Answered:

Just because you bill someone, doesn't mean they're going to pay! If you want to be quasi-sure of being paid, you'll have to contact them, then get the correct billing forms (you'll likely have to buy them), then offer the correct information, and if the product is APPROVED by the utilization committee as being both medically necessary, and something covered by a policy, they'll pay for it.

Sometimes they'll pay the policyholder, and you'll have to actually collect the money from the policyholder.

Dwight Said:

Why does Medicare deny twice as many people coverage than the Private insurance companies?

We Answered:

i have often ask this question myself. i work in a hospital and it is just out of this world with not only medicare but all of them. people you are disabled even have medicare but they take advantage of it. i think that's one of the reasons why they deny.
