Powers Insurance Agency

Leona Said:

Can an auto insurance agency report you to the DMV for having your policy cancelled?

We Answered:

The answer, unfortunately, is YES.
once you stop paying, the insurance company keeps sending you bills and if you don't pay within a month, they cancel your policy for non payment and notify the DMV.
The DMV sends you a notice telling you they will suspend your registration at such date if you don't get insurance for the car in question.
So not only do they want you to have insurance for the car, but you'll have to pay a fee to have registration reinstated.
It happened to me and I ended up paying more for it.
So if you don't want to drive the car, take it out of the street, put it in the garage or a lot. and tell the DMV about it so you don't have to pay insurance and registration.
good luck.

are insurance agencies required to reimburse food loss expenses due to power outages?

We Answered:

That depends on the specific coverage you have paid for with your insurance. Every policy is a little different. Some companies may not require you to pay a deductible for this kind of damage, your's does. If it is written into the policy, it is legal for them to make you pay the deductible. If you don't like Allstate's insurance, go to a different company.

Can car insurance companies put black marks on your credit score?

We Answered:

I think that anyone that you owe money to can file a report for non payment with your name on it. They just take you to court and it'll happen automatically.

accident after insurance expires the day before...?

We Answered:

You can always pay early. If you wait until the last minute, things like this can happen.

If you have been a customer for some time, they may allow you a grace period. You need to contact your agent.
