True. The subsidy doesn't apply to HER portion of the premium, because she's not a spouse or child. Your state or employer might be more liberal, allowing benefits for someone you're shacking up with, but the federal subsidy won't pay for her, as she's no relation to you, and it only extends to FAMILY. Which she isn't.

Hi no doubt you have been using the web to find a position. In my experience this can be a total waste of time as the agencies put up any old rubbish just to get your cv then, if they cant place you within a few days they give up.
With the 'market' being as it is, many established life companies have had a shock to the system and investments dropped considerably. For this reason many companies have started dropping their rates and looking for a quick cash cow to cover the lean times.This all means that the 'big boys will become snowed under with applications and will need every underwriter they can get their hands on.
Be wary though I can use the Prudential as an example where they dropped their rates so low and became so competitive they could not cope with applications and ended up pulling out of the market to the disgust of IFA's around the country.
Your best bet is to approach each life company directly with a letter and your cv to be followed up by a phone call, it does work, I can assure you. The only difficulty you might have is that you would likely join in the lower ranks, and as such, be prepared for a lowly salary. It is only the head bummers who make good money in underwriting.
