Parking lots or cases like this are going to be prob 50/50 at fault which means you will prob see your rate go up for 3-5yrs as a result of this. I would advise that you fix the car and do not report it to your insurance co. to avoid the "surcharge" of your first accident.. in addition you risk losing a safe driving discount if you have one now. I highly doubt the damages you would receive would be economical in the long run.

At the same time your policy contract does require you report all occurrences, just an fyi... it would be unethical for me not to mention that you do have a duty to report this accident.

However, I would also be misleading you if cases like this are frequently settled without an insurance co.

I'm from Houma but been gone for 10 years and I think I remember where Haydels is, its on Barrow st. aint it. And yes its one of the good one. And if the people in the store are as friendly as the people in HOuma in general it great. I've been all over the US and Houma has some of the friendliest people

-Don't admit fault.
-It doesn't matter where you car is insured and where the accident occured.
-Always contact their insurance company asap. If not they may deny your claim for taking too long.
-Just be honest and tell them what happened. They will determine who was at fault.
