Raul Said:

How to get bonded as an insurance agent/broker?

We Answered:

I've never known any life/health agents or brokers who have needed a bond. Depending on what kind of bond you are looking for, the cost would vary.

I think you're confused, though.

In order to sell insurance, you have to pass a knowledge test, pay for the license, and not be a convicted felon. THEN, you have to talk an insurance company into letting you sell their products.

Lots and lots of people can't pass the test.

Jessie Said:

How do insurance agents make money?

We Answered:

Insurance agents are compensated by a percentage of the premiums they write with the company. Depending upon the type of insurance that percentage can be anywhere between 7 and 20%. You won't be making a living on 10 clients.

In property and casualty you receive commissions on new business as well as renewals. Life insurance is quite different in that you can make from 40 to 90% on the first year premium and 0 to perhaps 2% on renewal premiums.
