Insurance Agent License

Regina Said:

If I hold a Life insurance license in NYS how do I obtain a Health Insurance Agent's license?

We Answered:

Check w the state insurance commissioner's office or the website the state maintains w licensing requirements. Most states offer the life & health exam as a combined entity covering a cross section of questions from both areas.

Passing it and paying the fees , etc gives you the basic requisites for licensing, but then my experience w ins licensing is in MD , not NY

Good Luck !!

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS TO TAKE THE EXAM TO GET YOUR INSURANCE AGENT LICENSE?

We Answered:

Insurance licenses are handled on the state level. They are called the Insurance Department. I can tell in Pennsylvania there is no requirement for a college degree, but there may be a requirement from whatever company you are applying to write insurance through. To study for the exam, I would check out Dearborn. http://www.dearborn.com
Also talk to some local agents about their experiences with the test in your state - http://www.findlocalinsurance.com

mylilsweetgurl, Home insurance covers lots of different things. I'm not familiar with all the fine print of my policy, but my homeowners insurance agent is always a phone call away. Try visting your agent or a homeowners agent in your area. http://www.usinsuranceadvisor.com/Home-I… They should be able to help you.

I am in the process of getting my insurance agent license. What is the best place to look for my first job?

We Answered:

An independent agency. They'll train you up, and have markets you can use - but unless you're doing backup work for a salesperson, you'll be straight commission.
