It is worse than that, it completely erodes the separation of powers under the Constitution whereby Congress controls the purse and coining of money, giving what tiny oversight there would be of the expanded fed to the executive branch, through the treasury secretary.

The separation of purse powers from the executive dates back to the Magna Carta. It is hard to understand why more aren't furious about this attack on our basic Constitutional structure.
