Step 1 is to start at an insurance company. Here you will learn the basics of insurance and how to sell. A point I want to make, you will also learn if you like the business or not. You don't want to start a business you hate... you'll fail.

P.S. most people don't learn this until they are a few years into the business, but most people (prospects) don't purchase on insurance provider over another, they purchase from one insurance agent over another. If you want to succeed, learn how to solve problems, not sell product.
